Hanoi's Historic Eats: From Egg Coffee to Chả Cá 🇻🇳

Описание к видео Hanoi's Historic Eats: From Egg Coffee to Chả Cá 🇻🇳

Hanoi has such a vibrant food scene that I had to make a second "Eating Like a Local" video.

Guided by the comments from my last Hanoi video, where I received numerous tips about the history of some of Hanoi's most iconic foods, for which I am very appreciative.

First up is egg coffee, or "cà phê trứng," which was invented in 1946 by Nguyễn Văn Giảng during a milk shortage. Hanoi's egg coffee combines whisked egg yolks with sugar and condensed milk, creating a unique, creamy coffee experience.

Second off the ranks is bún chả, a quintessential Hanoi dish of grilled pork and vermicelli noodles. It has its roots in the city's vibrant street food scene, capturing the essence of local culinary traditions.

Last but not least is chả cá, a beloved Hanoi dish created over a century ago by the Đoàn family during the French colonial period, which became famous at their restaurant on Chả Cá Street.
