Lech Valley - Wild Herbs and Tyrolean Knödel | What's cookin'

Verena Amann is a Lech valley „herb witch“. Together with other women from the area she is harnessing the wealth of the region’s herbs for new business ideas. It has become her passion and she thinks of little other than her wild herbs like ribwort, masterword, yarrow, geranium weeds, ground elder and cowslip. Her husband Andi shares her love of nature – he guides tourists along the local nature trails.

Verena’s enthusiasm for wild herbs is also evident in the kitchen: she is making wild herb pestos, wild herb soups and salads with her favourite herbal ingredients but also cosmetic products as a lemon balm mask with yoghurt and a rose petal sugar scrub for the legs.
Her mother still prefers the more traditional dishes like Tyrolean Knödel (sausage dumplings) and ensures her granddaughter knows how to cook the old-school recipes too.
