This is the first BSA B40 I have ridden and worked on. I was told that it runs roughly except when under load, so I went out expecting to experience this and consider how I might put it right. However, it appeared to run well enough to me and only 'played up' when I switched the ignition to 'Emergency' and switching back made everything fine again. I even contacted the owner to check which way he was turning the key, but he had been doing it right.
I will check over the basics anyway, but I must say it left me feeling a bit stumped!
