Yin Yoga Sequence for Runners - 30 Mins Yin yoga gives a deep stretch to tight muscles and is restorative for better recovery. Perfect for runners!

Yin Yoga is the best kind of yoga for post workout / post run recovery.

From a physical point of view this yoga practice will ease muscle tension, improve flexibility, release fascia and improve joint mobility.

Stretch and release tight muscles and tissues (including the connective tissue and facia) that becomes tight when you run. This means

🏃🏻‍♂️Lower chance of injury on your run
🏃🏻‍♂️Improved running technique
🏃🏻‍♂️Avoid problems caused by tight hips, hamstrings & lower back
🏃🏻‍♂️get to know your body & spot problem areas to nature before injury

An added bonus is that Yin yoga is restorative in nature. In 30 mins it calms the nervous system and allows your body to enter rest and repair mode (parasympathetic nervous system) meaning that your recovery between runs will be much improved.

Lastly because we are in the postures for a longer period of time, yin yoga allows you to develop mental resilience which transfers to you run as an ability to keep your cool and stick with it!

Yin Yoga calms the mind and body and reduces stress and anxiety. It gives your body time to relax into a pose, work with the breath, and find relief from physical tension.

This 30 min guided Yin Yoga class is everything you and your body needs after your run. It is suitable for all (suitable for beginners) and the effects last long after the practice.

Yin Yoga is a practice of surrender. It is the art of letting go - physically and mentally! Yin yoga encourages and allows your body to rebalance and restore to health and wellbeing.

Each posture is passive (we relax into it gradually) for between 3-5 mins. This gives us a deep stretch. The safer the body feels the more it will let go and so there will be plenty of options and alterations to allow the posture to feel just right.

We will feel the stretch but feel safe, able to relax and surrender fully to the posture.
