MOUNTUNE V2 ALLOY INTERCOOLER UPGRADE INSTALL! | FOCUS RS | PRO ALLOY

The time has come for more custard!

This is the latest performance mod that I have installed onto my Ford Focus RS MK3 and it is the up-rated V2 intercooler from Mountune made by Pro Alloy!

This is quite a significant mod for a couple of reasons; firstly it requires the removal of the front bumper which feels like a fairly big task; secondly it is the mod that enables me to up the power with a new map - more on this in a very near future video!

The V2 Moutune / Pro Alloy intercooler adds core volume and will have vastly improved cooling ability of charged air than the stock intercooler can provide. This will be beneficial with my current level of hardware modification and tune for such things as tracking the RS but will really be put to full use with a stage 2 tune in the near future.

The Mountune V1 / original spec intercooler was long out of stock at Mountune (many months) and during that time I had read about the USA market getting a V2 so I guess that Mountune were preparing a V2 for the UK market. Indeed this was the case - most likely due to supply issues - and the V2 was released at the end of 2019 and was different from the V1 in a few ways.

The new V2 Mountune Focus RS intercooler differed indeed in that it was now being made by Pro Alloy. The design of the V2 Mountune intercooler was very similar to the offering from Pro Alloy but with a few differences. Similarities include the mounting setup with separate brackets and also the core and end tank design is almost the same. Differences mainly revolve around the air diverters that are welded on to the Pro Alloy offering but are separate pieces that are integrated into the lower front grill with the V2 Mountune set up.

I always liked the design so the fact that Mountune have now collaborated with Pro Alloy on the new V2 intercooler, I think is awesome!

The top bracket design for mounting is instead of using the factory top mounts which are much harder to squeeze a larger core intercooler into without dropping the cooling pack so this design is definitely much more convenient for installation!

It comes all necessary mounting hardware including nuts, washers, brackets and foamy stuff.

The Mountune V2 alloy intercooler upgrade includes everything you need to optimise the performance of your MK3 Focus RS and is the foundation of further power upgrades.
Using a revised 13-row extruded lightweight tube and fin alloy core with formed end tanks for improved flow characteristics versus the OE item, the Mountune alloy intercooler upgrade gives a substantial reduction in air charge temperature (ACT) with minimal pressure drop, ensuring optimum charge air temperature and therefore power.

The Mountune alloy intercooler upgrade maximises performance within the RS' restrictive packaging space. it features Mountune detailing on the top plate and is available in a powder coated black finish, complete with Mountune core-logo template for easy personalisation.

The intercooler is also supplied with cooling pack air deflectors that clip in to the rear of the lower grille, aiding optimum airflow through the core.

OE: L 616mm x H 198mm x D 80mm
Mountune: L 680mm x H 230mm x D 120mm

I show the process of removing the front bumper, including the headlight washer jet covers, before showing how to install the new V2 Mountune intercooler.

The installation wasn't too difficult, just took a bit of time with having to remove a good number of fixings and then putting it all back together again.

The new intercooler looks fantastic behind the front grill, especially since I sprayed the Mountune logo onto it using the provided stencil - see it being done in my previous video:
