Spicy & Tasty Malvani Mutton Curry Recipe | मालवणी मटण रस्सा | Mutton Rassa | Konkan Special Recipe


Malvani Mutton Curry is a flavorful and aromatic dish from the coastal Malvan region of Maharashtra, India. This curry features tender marinated mutton, infused with bold spices like Kashmiri chili and Malvani masala, cooked with a base of onions, dry coconut, ginger, garlic, and tomatoes. The addition of whole spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves enhances its depth of flavor, making it a rich and spicy curry, perfect for pairing with rice or flatbreads.

Ingredients :

500 gms Mutton (curry cut pieces)

Marination I :

½ tsp Turmeric Powder (haldi powder)
½ tsp Salt (or as per taste)
½ tsp Ginger Garlic Paste (adrak-lehsun paste)
1 tsp Lemon Juice

Marination II :

1 tbsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder
2 tbsp Malvani Masala Powder (store bought)

Other Ingredients :

2 tbsp Vegetable Oil (use as per your diet restrictions)
2 large size (200 gms) Onion - (sliced)
40 to 45 gms Dry Coconut (Copra) - thinly sliced
10 to 12 nos (20 gms) Garlic Cloves (whole or roughly chopped)
1 inch (10 gms) Ginger (roughly chopped)
1 large size (100 gms) Tomatoes - (roughly chopped)
5 to 6 nos Green Chillies (use as per your spice tolerance)
A handful Coriander Leaves (along with the stem)
50 ml Water

2 to 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil (use as per your diet restrictions)
1 no. Bay Leaf (tej patta)
3 nos Green Cardamoms (hari elaichi)
1 no Cinnamon Stick (dalchini)
3 nos Cloves (lavang)
500 ml Boiling Hot Water
2 to 3 tbsp Coriander Leaves (chopped)

Note : tsp is teaspoon
tbsp is tablespoon
Use Oil as per your diet restrictions
Use Chillies as per your spice preference
Always wash curry leaves & coriander leaves before use
