This route starts in Skardu, heads toward Ghanche and then Khaplu for the night, and ends in the mountaineering town of Hushe at the Little Karim Hotel.

This region includes some of the highest mountains in the world, including K2, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum II (G2), Masherbrum (K1), Rakaposhi, and Gasherbrum I (G1).

K2 is the second-highest mountain on Earth, at 8,611 meters (28,251 feet), only surpassed by Mount Everest.

Often referred to as "The Savage Mountain," K2 is considered one of the most difficult and dangerous mountains to climb. It has a higher fatality-to-summit ratio than any other peak in the world, with approximately one person dying for every four who reach the top. However, recent data suggests this ratio might be improving due to more summits.

The mountain is called K2 because it was the second peak measured in the Karakoram Range during the Great Trigonometrical Survey of British India. Due to its remoteness, it lacks a widely recognized local name, though names like Chogori (from Balti words meaning "big mountain") have been suggested.
