7月5日下午，湖南岳阳市华容县团洲乡团北村团洲垸洞庭湖一线堤防发生决口，造成垸区被淹。
堵口刻不容缓。随着决口内外水位齐平，作业条件逐步成熟，堵口于6日启动。武警部队、抢险队伍等紧急修筑起作业平台，疏通堤上交通，昼夜作战，从决口左右两边双向作业，争分夺秒推进。
