Tarn Hows Circular with Black Crag and Tom Ghyll Waterfalls

On this short and interesting walk we start at the National Trust car park. It is a short walk to the Tom Ghyll Waterfalls as they rush down the fell.

Working our way through the wood we emerge at Tarn Hows, one of the most impressive tarn in lakeland according to Wainwright. I tend to agree!

At the north end of the tarn we head on to the fells to make our way to Black Crag which is the summit of Black Fell. This is a gentle ascent which takes us through the Iron Keld Plantation before we meet open ground once again.

From the summit, there is another viewing point where Windermere can be looked upon. From this point we head back to Tarn Hows to complete the circular route. I hope you enjoy the walk around Tarn Hows with Black Crag and Tom Ghyll Waterfalls.
