On December 29, 2023, officers in Florida respond to a welfare check placed by an individual's parents that worry he may be too intoxicated. When police arrive at residence, the male suspect in question is combative and promptly shuts the door on the officers. The girlfriend of the suspect opens the door back up and greets the officers. She explains that it must have been the parents of the suspect who called them to check up as she was the one who had called the parents earlier. She explains how frustrated she is at her boyfriend, that he won't leave her alone and won't stop talking to her. The officers suggest she find somewhere to stay for the night to deescalate the situation. After some deliberation, she decides that she cannot leave because she has new cats she needs to take care of. The officers then talk to the male suspect and explain why they were called in the first place. Once he realizes he hasn't done anything unlawful, he promptly ends the conversation with the officers.

As the officers are leaving, they hear yelling through a bedroom window with the phrase, "Leave me alone! Leave me alone!" The officers then go back to the front door of the residence to check that everything is ok. The female answers the door and lets the officers know that things are ok and that the male suspect has left her alone.

As officers are leaving for a second time, they hear yelling and screaming once again in the same bedroom. This time an officers witnesses the male suspect push the bedroom door open that the female had barricaded to prevent anyone from entering. The male suspect blocks the entrance with his body so she can't escape. Screaming escalates with the female stating that she would be leaving the residence this time.

Officers return to the front door and confront the male suspect, requiring he step outside as the female collects her belongings to leave. The male suspect is combative and argumentative and leans into an officer. The officer repeatedly asks the male suspect to step back. The male suspect leans in further to push the officer at which time the officers determine they have probable cause to arrest the suspect. The suspect is arrested after putting up a resistance to the detainment.

The male suspect is charged with:
Resisting an Officer with Violence
Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer

A no contact order was placed on the suspect the day after the incident.
