Suzanne Crough played Tracy, a role that gave her steady work for at least 4 years. She felt like she was living her dreams every day until the show ended.

Child actors often have trouble finding mature roles when they grow up, and Suzanne found this out for herself. She was only able to find small parts in movies and shows and had to get “real” jobs in retail businesses to make ends meet for her family.

The optimistic actress never let go of her dreams until her life was suddenly cut short. She suffered from a rare form of cardiomyopathy known as ARD. It impairs the ability of the heart to pump blood. It can cause sudden cardiac arrest and proved deadly for Suzanne.

Most living cast members of The Partridge Family, including Danny Bonaduce and Shirley Jones, expressed their condolences after they learned of her death. They told the world what a wonderful person she was and how much they would miss her.

Suzanne was not the first member of the Partridge family to die, however. David Cassidy’s alcoholism led to deadly liver failure, and Dave Madden succumbed to heart and kidney failure. They weren’t alive to speak about their time with Suzanne but likely would have had only positive words to say.

While she wasn’t the center of the show, Partridge Family fans also fondly remember Suzanne’s performance as Tracy. They were left in the dark about the cause of her death for some time. Now that they know, they can focus on keeping her legacy alive.
