Lake Uri is part of Lake Lucerne in the cantons of Uri and Schwyz.
Until the early 1980s, things looked bad for the Uri Reuss delta: meter by meter the shore landscape disappeared into the lake. Thanks to the Reuss Delta Act of 1985, there is now once again a coexistence of moderate gravel mining, natural habitats and shallow water zones for flora and fauna as well as tourist use.

Made from 3.3 million tonnes of rock from the Gotthard railway base tunnel, the small archipelago is one of the biggest attractions in and around Lake Lucerne. Especially on hot summer days, there is a real South Sea feeling on the “Lorelei” bathing islands. Large, flat stones invite you to sunbathe and linger - with the largest block coming from the Gotthard Base Tunnel and symbolizing the origin of the material.
