Citadel Mall - Charleston, SC

What's good, everyone?! Today's video is my second ever full mall tour! This video features the Citadel Mall in the West Ashley area of Charleston, SC. Citadel Mall is the largest indoor shopping center in the region, offering 3 strong department stores and a unique variety of both national and local in-line store options.

Citadel Mall is the larger of the two indoor shopping malls in the Charleston, SC regional area. Despite being the newer of the two, Citadel is now less popular, and has been the topic of several potential redevelopment plans over the years. The mall features Belk, Dillard's, and Target as its main anchor stores, with MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina) occupying the former JCPenney which closed in 2017. Citadel features a Citi-Trends and Planet Fitness as strong junior anchor tenants as well.

The mall's decline has been noticeable, however I can't consider it a dead mall. It does decently good business on weekends, and even during the summer. While struggling, Citadel Mall also retains a lot of potential for future development. There is also a Dick's Sporting Goods and multiplex stadium theater on the mall's property, keeping steady foot traffic in the area.

Overall, I am very excited to shine some light on this struggling prospect and complete my video documentation of both Charleston regional area malls.
