Easy joints, easy effort - a class for rest and renewal and to gently process the hard stuff by moving soft and slow

Take this class when you need to move but your energy is low or your body is feeling stiff and sticky, when recovering from injury or stress, when you are repatterning joint motion or to slow down and be with simplicity.

Joint mobility includes isolated movements that are specific to individual joint segments. This class also explores pathways of motion that include more than isolated joint action to encourage better function as a whole.

The intention of mobility exercises is to move our joints through their full range of motion in multiple directions with active attention to quality and effort. Our everyday tasks are often repetitive and only require a certain range of joint motion to accomplish the activity. Our body adapts to these ranges- mapping the actions we make on a regular basis and patterning our neuromuscular system and our tissue architecture in the process. Avoiding certain movement ranges and directions limits our movement possibilities, and in somatics we believe this also impacts our perceptual multiplicity.

This is the first class in a series of three called Creative Mobility. Get access to all three classes when you purchase the Essentials Course:

Hi I am Kaila June Keliikuli and I have been teaching movement for the past 30 years. In my early 20’s, I began developing the movement system Somatic Groundwork (or they began developing me). My approach has emerged through a systems science, co-creative, relational way. With a background as a semi-professional dancer, professional fitness trainer and somatic movement educator, I am skilled to offer both therapuetic support and performance enhancement through movement training. Somatic Groundwork and Myofascial Movement is how I help people with moving and feeling better.
