Race, Whiteness and the English Literary Canon: An Overview of the Literature

On the 8th March 2021, I gave an online Zoom lecture on race, Whiteness and the English literature canon.

Following calls since the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter and thus movements to decolonise the curriculum, I delivered a session on the role of race in British literary canon.

Since October 2020, there has been debate amongst teachers close to me on how to teach these sorts of texts. There has also been debate on how to talk about race in the context of these texts as well.
