Today, we're taking another sample of Oxblood, from Keeley Electronics. While the Oxblood topologically resembles a Klon Centaur, the sound is anything but. While K-style pedals are low-to-medium gain machines that sound great pushing an amp, the Oxblood ventures into uncharted gain waters, and can sound great as a standlone higher-gain device. The frequency response that the Oxblood emphasizes in low-gain mode are just as present when running the pedal hotter, and they help the Oxblood to slash through the mix like a machete. Using the Phat switch toggles this response between 736Hz and 66Hz, perfect for either leads or rhythm. The Clipping toggle dramatically alters the overdriven tones when redlining the Oxblood. Flipping the switch to the left adds more saturation, and the right side gives more output volume and increased dynamics. Like all Keeley products, the Oxblood is exactingly engineered and manufactured in Oklahoma, USA.
