Planting the First Chestnut Tree in our Orchard

We are planting the first chestnut tree in our orchard. can you believe it? after talking about it for nearly two years it is finally happening. We are starting with 36 trees on labor day weekend 2020, and will be planting another 30 trees in October of 2020. when we finish planting this year we will have a total of 66 chestnut trees planted.
Some of the trees that we are planting you seen me grow from seeds, this is so exciting to know I grew them from seeds and one day they will be trees producing nuts.
the kinds of trees going in our orchards are all seedlings from known cultivars and include, Gideon, resilient, Luvalls monster, Mossbarger and Dunstan. these are the first to go in the ground. The second round come from a tree grower who numbers his trees and they will be called L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L6, there will be 30 of those and they will arrive and be planted in October.
I have already placed orders for nuts that I will be Stratifying this winter and planting in our orchard in 2021.
