One Life to Live 2/20/1991

Hunter barges into Jake's office and tells him he needs to stay away from Megan. Jake agrees to keep his distance from Megan as long as Hunter promises not to let her out of his sight. Hunter wants to know why, and Jake reluctantly says Carlo is a danger to Megan and to all the Buchanans. Hunter refuses to believe Jake and storms out of his office. Clint is worried sick that Viki is missing. Though he suspects she’s run off with Gabrielle, he fears she could be walking right into a trap. Gabrielle tells Niki they are going to a party on a houseboat. They stop off at Andy’s Place and Niki tries to make a phone call, but Dorian–who is practically ecstatic to see the rumors of Niki’s return are true–takes the phone from her. Kevin hears Niki arguing with Dorian at the bar and goes to confront her. Gabrielle takes advantage of the scene to use the payphone and call Carlo. Carlo says there’s a change of plans: he wants her to take Niki to a loft in the artist’s district. Hunter drops in on Megan to see how she’s coping. Against his better judgment, he asks about Carlo and whether the mobster has a grudge against her family. She fills him in on some of the recent history. Having failed to make a call to Clint, Viki tries to pass information to Clint via Kevin, though she doesn’t yet know the plan has changed.

Back at Jake’s office, Clint paces uneasily. Jake tries to calm him down and convince him that Viki can handle herself, even if she is walking into a trap. He has Clint call Megan to make sure she is safe. When Hunter answers, Clint and Jake ask him to keep an eye on Megan all night, explaining that Niki Smith is missing and they think Carlo has set a trap. Hunter, having to explain the call to Megan, says the film’s insurance company is threatening to drop them (over alleged fears that Megan’s family problems will cause her to quit the picture), shutting down production. He says the only thing he can do is personally guarantee that Megan is not leaving the film. Later, an intern delivers him a change of clothes, and Hunter clarifies that he has to move in in order to make such a personal guarantee. Kevin calls Llanfair and tells Uncle Bo about his encounter with Niki. He passes on the message Niki gave, and Bo in turn calls Jake's office and conveys the message to his brother. Bo asks Alex on a date and then kisses her. When Niki and Gabrielle arrive at the loft, Niki complains that there doesn’t seem to be any party. Gabrielle says maybe she got it wrong and leaves Niki behind to call her “friend” and figure out where the party is. But Niki quickly realizes she’s locked in. Moments later, Carlo emerges from the shadows and tells Niki it’s not time for her to go yet. Niki says she was promised a party, but Carlo says this is more like a chance for them to get better acquainted. He has her make him a drink to test how compliant she still is, and after she does this, he tells her to take off her clothes.
