Lake District Walks: Troutbeck Tongue via Hagg Gill

Описание к видео Lake District Walks: Troutbeck Tongue via Hagg Gill

Fancy doing a small Wainwright Fell? Then Troutbeck Tongue is a perfect little peak that is rich in history and views! Beginning on the edge of Troutbeck Village just near Windermere, this walk follows the base of the valley along a terrace path overlooking acres of pasture. Once Hagg Gill is reached the gentle ascent begins to reach a series of Bronze Age (2000BC) cairns and burial mounds that sit close to the High Street Roman Road - one being exceptionally well preserved!

The ridgetop path is then followed to the 364m summit of Troutbeck Tongue which of course offers stunning views to the surrounding higher peaks and also down the valley to Windermere. The descent is steep and gets you off the fellside quickly (in my case it was needed due to Gale Force Winds!) and returns along the valley floor.

Distance: 12.9km
Ascent: 302m
Duration: 3 Hours 49 Minutes
