Sheaffer 330 (Quasi-Imperial) - restoration

Описание к видео Sheaffer 330 (Quasi-Imperial) - restoration

This restoration began with me believing I had a variation of the Sheaffer Imperial Line. So the restoration began as you would expect - screw things apart, heat and soak as needed, and remove all the small bits for a good, thorough cleaning.
The pen itself is very straight forward in design. It definitely feels well made and timeless. The plastic body polished up amazing well with only a couple small imprints to preserve. It's so annoyingly blue and beautiful that I hate to touch it and get my fingerprints back on it.
This particular pen came with an original squeeze converter with a nice supple silicone sac. This worked very well with the writing sample, making me feel this would be a great everyday carry and workhorse pen.
However, the nib was the most surprising. Steel nibs aside, this one wrote like a dream. It was smooth and fine and laid down a juicy line.
However, when I came down to identifying this particular pen, I found that I was dealing with a "Quasi-Imperial" - as the FP collecting community would call it. While not named such by Sheaffer, its design and overall feel is right in line with the more top-tier imperial line. The steal nib and trim, along with the slightly redesigned body (more round rather than trapezoidal) make this a Sheaffer 330, instead.

Overall happy with the way this pen turned out. Happy to have learned a bit of nuance in the always confusing fountain pen naming conventions of each company. Hope this opens up a new pen option to those who collect.
