"How to" restoration of Sheaffer Touchdown.

Another video in the progression of vintage filling systems. Overall a pretty simple restoration that most people can do. The most awkward point is the replacement of the plunger seal. However, it seems to be no problem for me when not on camera. Go figure. This is a great pen for every pen collector and a very fun one to fill. The restoration of it is certainly satisfying.
I do apologize for the editing of this one. It's a bit choppy at times, but I felt I need to be more polished and still need to overcome some equipment issues.

The things needed for repair:
Heat source for the nib/soaking source. Take your time with triumph nibs.
-Replacement gasket: Vintagepens.com (David Nishimura's site)
-Replacement sac: Size 17 typically but double check. Lots of places to get sacs. Indy-pen-dance, anderson pens, vintagepens.
-Silicone grease - same sites as above
-Flat head screw driver
-Soap/water/ammonia (optional)

These are definitely great pens. I've never been let down by a vintage Sheaffer pen. These are supremely customizable pens with color, trim, and nib options. Do be wary of shrinkage in these pens. The bodies can have shrinkage around the filling knob/gasket and be a bit tight. There can be cracks around the filling knob which may compromise the filling system.
The caps may frequently have shrinkage around the inner cap liners leading to uneven caps - this is mostly cosmetic, to be fair, and may get you a better price on the ebay/resale market. Also be careful to inspect around the spring clip as there can be cracks around it as well.
