Fishing for GOLDEN Trout 🔆Backpacking Idaho's Highest Lake

GOAT LAKE in the Pioneer Mountains of Idaho is the state's highest named lake at 10,438'. The Pioneer Mountains reside close to the popular ski town of Sun Valley, less than an hour from the trailhead. On this hike I start from the Fall Creek Trailhead and hike through the breathtaking Surprise Valley, spending my first night at Lake 10,148' (Surprise Lake). The next day I pass by Standhope Peak, down past Betty Lake and over to Goat Lake, Idaho's highest lake. I use my Tenkara rod to fish the super cool looking, golden cutthroat trout, before a night of high winds and hard rain.
