Prayer

Father God,

We come before You in this moment—and the first thing we become aware of is our own breath. The rise and fall of our chests. The air moving through our lungs. The steady rhythm of life that continues even when we forget to notice it.

And we realize, Lord, that this breath is not our own. It never was. You formed us from the dust of the earth, and You breathed into us the breath of life. Every inhale is a gift from Your hand. Every exhale is a return of what You first gave.

Forgive us for the times we have taken this gift for granted. For the days we have rushed through without pausing to thank the One who sustains us. For the moments we have used this breath for words that don't honor You, for sighs of frustration, for silence when we should have sung.

Today, we choose to become aware. We choose to recognize that the very ability to speak, to sing, to pray—it all comes from You. And so we pour out our praise. Not because You need it, but because our hearts cannot contain the gratitude. You give life—so we respond with living. You are love—so we respond with loving. You bring light to the darkness—so we open our eyes and see. You give hope—so we hold on. You restore every heart that is broken—so we bring You our shattering and receive Your mending.

Great are You, Lord. Great are You, Lord.

We join our voices with every mountain that has ever stood tall, with every ocean that has ever roared, with every nation that has ever declared Your name. Let the earth shout Your praise. Let our hearts cry out. Let these bones—these fragile, temporary, breathing bones—sing of Your greatness all the days of our lives.

Every breath we breathe is Yours. So today, we lift our hands. We lift our voices. We lift our lives. And we pour them out in worship to You only.

To You only, Lord. Forever to You only.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, who breathed on His disciples and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit,"
