Ripples of Steel 🔩 Gorgeous Split Cup Ring Pour with Negative Space!

Hello Friends! Welcome back to another beautiful day in the garden! Todays episode is a bit different. My Husband of Awesomeness had a complicated Total Knee Replacement surgery a couple of weeks ago, and it is still difficult for him to walk to the studio.. so I am shooting this video alone tonight. I thank you for your patience and understanding. HoA will resume shooting the videos as soon as he is able. Tonight, its just me and three cameras! Lets get started!
The last video, When Doves Fly, was a straight pour on a paynes gray background, using a new to me color, Goldens Iridescent Stainless Steel. I really enjoyed that pour, but I made one error.. instead of pouring my cup and then using a flow extender, I put down a basecoat. Doing that resulted in too much paint on the canvas, and ended up stretching the design more than I wanted and losing the negative space I wanted. Tonight I want to use those same colors but use a flow extender instead of a basecoat and see if we get a better result.

There is NO Silicone
in Any of My Paint.

I have removed the Greenish Blue from my colors tonight, as I really want to see the paynes grey play with the Stainless Steel and the Pearl.

I am repurposing a 20x20 inch gallery wrapped canvas from Artists Loft.

I'm using a 6 chamber 16 ounce split cup.

I have a tub of thinned out Paynes Grey to use as my flow extender. I layer my split cup and then pour it into a puddle of the Paynes Gray. After some tilting I don't really love the composition so add a little more paint to my split cup and pour the ring pour again. I tilt out that ring and play a bit to get the composition I want. I love the contrast between the Paynes Grey and the Stainless Steel. Using the Aquamarine brightened up some areas of this piece, but I really love the contrast between the White and Paynes... gorgeous!
