Which bassplayer doesn’t recognize the fantastic triplet basslick which leads into to the Verse? Just this lick is already reason enough to play this song!

I play this song on a fretless bass with no effects.

The song is played with a triplet feel and has got a realy steady bassgroove. Besides this groove David Tyson plays some very tasteful slides. For instance in bar 59 where bar 60 follows with a triller in 32th notes. Also the pull-off notes are very tasteful. Listen for instance at bar 25 and 47. I also like the way David Tyson gives the lead in for the chorus by playing a syncpated note on the thirs beat followd by two notes of the triplet on the fourth beat (bar 20). David Tyson did not only play the bass but was also co-writer of this song.

I play this song on a fretless Fender Precision Lyte with roundwound strings. Made in Japan. Ebony fingerboard and inlaid lines (done by luthier). Standard E-A-D-G tuning. The original recording is in Eb (E flat). In this video I play in E. If you want to play this song together with the original recording please turn your bass a semitone lower in Eb-Ab-Db-Gb.
