Описание к видео MP2002-458 Former President Truman Recalls His Military Service in World War I

In this Screen Gems outtake with intermittent sound, former president Harry S. Truman recalls his military service. He discusses joining Battery B, and his grandmother telling him not to bring a blue uniform into her house. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in Battery F of the 129th Field Artillery, then he was promoted to the Captain of Battery D. Mr. Truman details his experiences in World War I being fired on by the Germans in the Vosges Mountains, and his time in Meuse Argonne. He tells the story of firing on German batteries outside his sector, saving some Pennsylvania batteries. They, in turn, supported him in a specific section of the state during the 1948 election.
