A Message for the Addict & Betrayer: Understanding How Your Choices Impact Your Loved Ones

Kristin M, Snowden, MA, LMFT, CDWF specializes in treating couples and individuals in crisis due to hidden addictions, infidelity, and other forms of betrayal. This is a live webinar created to help betraying partners (i.e. those having an affair, or have a secret addiction, or are committing financial infidelity) understand how their choices and behaviors impact their loved ones. Kristin has spent years working with couples healing after affairs, betrayed partners who are struggling with betrayal trauma, and drug/sex addicts seeking recovery. This webinar shares the common misconceptions and misunderstandings addicts/betrayers have about their secret behaviors and choices. Kristin discusses common rationalizations and justifications betrayers believe in order to continue their secret behaviors, including emotional abuse, gaslighting, lying, and invalidating emotions. She works to help the betrayer/addict to build empathy and compassion for their partners. Kristin also provides signs that the betraying partner is working toward change and recovery. This may be a good webinar for both the recovering addict/reforming betrayer and their loved ones to sit down and watch together to engage discussion. The goal of this webinar is not to scold, punish, or put down the betrayer. Kristin believes healing can come from education and better understanding what happens in a relationship system when infidelity or addiction is discovered. Education breeds understanding, understanding breeds empathy. This video is helpful for anyone struggling with feelings of hurt, uncertainty, trauma or betrayal and searching for a path toward healing. This is applicable to both the addict/betrayer and the partner of the addict/betrayer.
