The Coober Pedy Hat

A true Australian classic, the Coober Pedy is a smart and stylish hat, equally at home in town or country. Named after Coober Pedy, in Southern Australia, “the opal capital of the world”, where the precious stones have been mined for generations.

The Coober Pedy has an 83mm bound edge brim, which sweeps stylishly front to back and offers all round protection from the elements. The inner is fully lined in satin and has a supple leather sweatband, along with eyelets for ventilation.
As with all Akubra hats, the Coober Pedy is hand-crafted in Australia and takes six weeks to make, using traditional, old-school processes which have changed little in 140 years. Made from 100% rabbit felt fur, all Akubra hats are water resistant and offer the ultimate in sun protection.
