Digging Deeper into the Post Exilic Biblical Literature, Part 4, QUEEN ESTHER OF PERSIA |

In my opinion Esther was the most important woman in Israel's Old Covenant history. She accomplished something so important that without her courage, faith, and temerity, God's plan of redemption would have been seriously injured. But because of her faithfulness to God, the people of God and the line of King David was preserved which enabled the Messiah to be miraculously born of Mary the mother of Christ.

Even though the Jews had been granted permission to return to their ancestral homeland, they still regarded themselves as being in captivity because they would still be ruled by a foreign ruler. It was in this period that a large body of the Bible’s canonical literature was produced in various genres including poetry (the Psalms), history (Esther, Nehemiah, Ezra), and prophecy (Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi). Each of these works layed the foundation for the anticipation of the coming Messiah and the establishment of the New Covenant with Yahweh and the redeemed.
