In this tutorial, we will address the pelvic bowl and the pelvic floor muscles. The first step in performing pelvic floor muscle exercises is to identify the correct muscles. We will go through the anatomy of the pelvic bowl and the direction of the muscle fibers briefly. We will also address the function of the pelvic floor muscles as well as issues that come with weak pelvic muscles such as incontinence. We also discuss how the pelvic floor muscles support breathing and the abdominal connection during your Pilates practice.
