Eartham, West Sussex; autumnal village & country walk

Описание к видео Eartham, West Sussex; autumnal village & country walk

Join us on a chilly but sunny, autumnal walk around the tiny village of Eartham in West Sussex. Eartham is located approximately 7 miles north west of Arundel and 7 miles north east of Chichester.

Due to its cinematic nature, this video is best watched on a large screen, such as a TV, to fully appreciate the visual detail and immersive aural experience we try to convey.

Another pre-dawn start, and we were able to catch the sunrise over the South Downs from the village.

From the village, we wandered north across the fields. With the ground rising, we were able to get beautiful views of the late autumn sunrise and, to the north, Halnaker Mill. Through the woods, still displaying wonderful colours in places, we then had to walk a short stretch of the A285 - not a pleasant experience as there is no footpath.

We then took the footpath leading to Eartham Woods. At this time of year, wildlife is rather scarce, and the few birds we did see were really quite camera-shy.

Exiting Eartham Woods to the south, we arrived at Nore Folly. We have made another video that incorporates this landmark -    • Slindon, West Sussex - a rural idyll   - there is further information in the description of that video.

Then back to Eartham village which, aside from The George pub, has little by way of amenities. We love the old churches (as the contain so much social history), and whilst St Margaret's church is pretty, our research has turned up nothing exceptional about it.

A potted history of Eartham can be found at http://www.westsussex.info/eartham.shtml.

St Margaret's church dates from approx 1100 - more details may be found here https://sussexparishchurches.org/chur....

Parts of this walk can be rather difficult; in wet conditions it is muddy, and the woods have a number of large, fallen trees that require considerable dexterity to clamber over, duck under or find an alternative route through the undergrowth.

All background and natural sounds were recorded during our time filming.
