梅林街位於福田區的北部，是福田區最接近龍華區之地區。名稱取自街道內的舊村落－上梅林村和下梅林村。
梅林原本是農村，深圳市成立後開始有工廠落腳，如今有些常去被改建為小型旅館。近年來隨著都市化，開始轉為住宅區，現辦公大樓或其他商業建築數量不多。福田農批市場位於此。
梅林水庫，原名馬潟湖水庫，是位於中國廣東省深圳市福田區梅林地區的一個中型水庫（人工湖），是深圳市福田區居民和企業生產和生活用水的主要水源之一，2016年，梅林水庫總供水量約300萬立方公尺，水庫蓄水量維持約700萬-900萬立方公尺。梅林水庫因其綠道風景優美，適合年輕人體驗戀愛而受到關注；同樣，也曾因為改造工程進度緩慢，影響市民觀光而被網友吐槽。

Meilin Reservoir, formerly known as Maxie Reservoir, is a medium-sized reservoir (artificial lake) located in Meilin area, Futian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China. It is one of the main sources of water for production and living water for residents and enterprises in Futian District, Shenzhen City. In 2016, the total water supply of Meilin Reservoir was about 3 million cubic meters, and the water storage capacity of the reservoir was maintained at about 7 million to 9 million cubic meters. Meilin Reservoir has attracted attention for its beautiful greenway scenery and is suitable for young people to experience love; similarly, it has also been complained by netizens because of the slow progress of the renovation project, which affected citizens' sightseeing.
