Om Swami says that in many parts of India and also in other predictive schools of thought, the ninth house is also considered to be that of the father, and to gauge how that child is going to be for his or her father. For example, depending on the movement of the planets in the birth chart, if the owner of the eighth house goes into the ninth, then that person may get separated from their father and guru. The tenth house governs work, business, achievements, public life, success, recognition etc. The effect of the planets on the houses depend on how strong or weak they are. Their movement, strength and weaknesses determine many aspects of a person’s life. Om Swami says that sometimes it’s not the competency that brings success but the attitude, temperament, etc and some of these can be ascertained from the tenth house.
