Dwight Cox, Desert Rose Baháʼí Institute- Bringing Agriculture to the Desert

Описание к видео Dwight Cox, Desert Rose Baháʼí Institute- Bringing Agriculture to the Desert

Dwight Cox shares his journey with us through an introduction to Desert Rose Baháʼí Institute and a video presentation of the story of the General Ala'i Agricultural Project. After arriving at DRBI and assessing the fallout of corporate farming and drought, it was clear that the land was incapable of supporting crops. Dwight evaluated various approaches for bringing microbial life back to the soil and became excited by the possibilities of permaculture, developing agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient. The focus now is on reclaiming desert land by using techniques such as composting, hugelkultur, aquaculture and water preservation to create a self-sustaining ecosystem based on soil health.
About Dwight Cox
Dwight is Vice-Chairman of the Desert Rose Baha’i Institute (DRBI) Board of Directors and founder of the General Ala’i Agricultural Project. He was raised on a farm in Illinois, and all through his youth he thought about escaping. Today, over 40 years and many experiences later, he is tilling the soil again, only this time in southern Arizona - which presents an entirely different challenge from the farm of his youth.
