Hey everybody. Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2013 Range Rover Evoke, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins Simple Plugin Wiring Harness for factory tow package. That's going to have a four pole flat connector. This is going to provide you with the signals you're going to need to properly operate your trailer lights.This is going to keep your mind at ease knowing you're not only safe, but also legal. And other motorists on the road are also going to appreciate the fact that they're going to know what your intentions are as you're towing a trailer down the road.One of the things I really like about this kit is that it's going to be simple plug and play.

You'll just find where your factory tow connector is and more or less plug it right in. Now, in my opinion, the harness is really well-made and feels like it is built to last.I did find a couple of downsides and everything is not included to get this fully installed. It's not a huge deal, but it is worth mentioning, you're going to need a screw and maybe some zip ties on.One of the things I would recommend picking up is some dielectric grease and you'd put that occasionally over your terminals and that'll just help keep them protected and free from corrosion.Now the trailer wiring is just one component you're going to need if you plan on doing some towing. If you're looking for a complete kit, I'd recommend a few different options. I'd recommend the draw tite hitch just like the one we have here today.

The etrailer.com ball mount kit and finally the Lutsco 00:01:36 Arrow Anti-Rattle Locking Hitch Pin.This is a very simple installation, so let's go ahead and do it together now.To begin our installation, we're going to be working in the back of the car on the driver's side in this area. What we need to do is locate our factory plug and it's going to be right up here. There's going to be two plugs, but we're only going to need to work with one and the one that we need is this one. It's just going to be a little bit larger than the other one. You don't have to, but when I'm going to do is actually pull this down a little bit just to make it a little bit easier to see.What we're going to have to do is remove this dummy plug that's inside of our connector.

This dummy plug's in here just to help keep everything protected. To do that, there's going to be a tab in the center. We're going to push down on that with our thumb and pull downward on our plug. Just like that.It's always a good idea to put some dielectric grease on the contacts here on our connector and that'll just help prevent any corrosion. If you need some of this dielectric grease, pick some up on etrailer.com.Once you have that covered, we can take our new wiring harness and just plug it in.

You're going to line the tabs up and this can only go in one way, so it should go in fairly smooth. Push it all the way down and then just lightly pull back on it to make sure it's fully seated.Now we can take our white wire with the ring terminal on it and ground that to our frame. You want to make sure that you're grounding it to solid metal and that there's nothing behind anything where you're screwing into so nothing gets damaged.I'm going to ground it right here to this part of the bumper support. The one thing you will need to do that is a self tapping screw, which does not come with the kit, but you can pick one up on etrailer.com or even a local hardware store.I went ahead and ran our four pole plug over to our hitch and I secured the extra wiring up here with a couple of zip ties and I ran it on the other side of our hitch just to try to keep it away from our hot exhaust and drop it down right here.In our particular application, we actually finished everything up and secured our connector on some bracketry here. There's many different options available at etrailer.com.Now, with everything connected, we're going to go ahead and test it to make sure everything is working properly. Try our left turn. Our right turn. Our running lights and our brake lights.That'll do it for our look at and installation of the Hopkins Wiring Harness on our 2013 Range Rover Evoke.
