Sweet Man (Pinkard and Turk)
“The Denza Dance Band”
(Actually Harry Reser)
Columbia 3817 (UK)
(78 rpm record)

This United Kingdom release of this 78-rpm record was advertised as “The Denza Dance Band." However, this is actually “Harry Reser’s Syncopators.” Harry Reser is arguably the greatest banjo player in history, but he isn’t heard much on this side.

Johnson & Shirley (American Dance Bands on Record and Film 1915 – 1942) gives the following personnel:

Harry Reser (banjo, director); Tommy Gott, Hymie Farberman (trumpets); Sam Lewis (trombone); Larry Abbott (clarinet, alto sax); Unknown 2nd alto sax; possibly Bill Wirges (piano); unknown brass bass; Tom Stacks (drums).

Recorded New York, September 1, 1925.

Images from archive.org and Wikipedia. This record starts off pretty rough. I did the best I could to reduce surface noise by using Vinyl Studio software.
