Cookalong Live with Misty Ricardo | 3. Dhansak Curry

This time we will be cooking a Dhansak curry from Indian Restaurant Curry at Home Volume 1. The choice of main ingredient is up to you - feel free to use chicken, lamb, veg prawns etc. You can use raw chicken or pre-cooked, but lamb or beef must be pre-cooked beforehand.

Lentils/Dhal is essential in a Dhansak so you are going to need 6-9 TBSP of it, pre-cooked ready to put in the curry. Please follow my YouTube Dhal video to make a batch beforehand (   • How to make Dhal (Very delicious and ...  ). It makes more than you need but it tastes great - I don't think you will mind having leftover dhal.

Here are the ingredients you'll be needing if cooking along.
Oil or Ghee
Ginger/Garlic Paste
Mix Powder
Chilli Powder
Salt
Green Cardamom
Kasuri Methi
350-400ml Base Gravy, thinned down and heated up
Tomato Paste (diluted tomato puree with 3x water)
Your choice of main ingredient
Pre-Cooked Dhal
Pineapple chunks (optional and controversial)
Jaggery, Brown Sugar, or White Sugar
Lime Juice (Lemon will suffice)
Butter Ghee (optional)
1 TBSP fresh Coriander Leaves, finely chopped
