Q & A with Matt K! Flow Formula Foul-Up

Описание к видео Q & A with Matt K! Flow Formula Foul-Up

In today’s episode of "Q & A with Matt K!", Matt addresses a question from Edgard in the Salesforce Trailblazer Community about formula fields displaying inconsistently in a flow’s data table.

Here’s Edgard’s Full Question:
"Formula field (number) displaying the USD symbol in the flow's data table.

I have a formula field (number) to display the value of another number field, but for some reason, in one screen, the data table shows it with a USD symbol in front, while in the same flow, on another screen, it shows without the USD but aligned to the left as if it were a text. Has anyone else experienced this?"

After diving into the issue, here’s what we uncovered:

Solution Breakdown:
23:00 – We'll need Edgar to confirm, but the cause of the issue seems to be related to there being two different fields, both likely labeled as “Outstanding Amount.” One field is a currency field, while the other is likely a text field formatted to display the number (as text). The differing properties of these fields are likely causing the display inconsistency.

28:00 The Fix/Check:
To resolve this, check the properties of the data tables used in the flow. You’ll want to ensure that the correct (and same) "Outstanding Amount" field is selected for each data table—either the currency field or the text field, depending on the desired format.

Watch the full video for a detailed walkthrough of how to troubleshoot and fix this issue in your Salesforce flow!

The short version will be to go to "Setup" ➡️ Flows ➡️ Click the relevant flow ➡️ Click on the screen component with the first table ➡️ Edit element ➡️ Click data table ➡️ On the right hand side, expand configure columns ➡️ Click the pencil next to "Outstanding Amount" column. Then, look at name of the source field!

Repeat the above for the 2nd screen/2nd table and it'll likely be two different Outstanding Amount fields!

Let's see what Edgard says!
