Описание к видео Korg i40M All Styles Part 1 (Bank A - 8 beat, 16 beat, Dance ...) Vintage Keyboard Arranger

This video is the first part of my Korg i40M All Styles series, including the long Intro, Var 1,2,3,4 and the long Ending.

This is the first 64 original styles (bank A).

- 16 beat
- Ballroom
- Dance 1
- Dance 2
- Latin 1
- Latin 2
- Latin Dance

In 1999, Korg introduced the i40M, an expander module version of the IS40, with extra vocal harmony features.

The sound generation used in the i40M is the famous AI2 synthesis from Korg, which was available in previous models like the X5DR, the NS5R or the great 01/W line. It has full sound edition available via multi page settings. It's not very intuitive, but sounds can be fully edited like with any synthesizer. The i40M includes every sample of the NS5R and even more ! That's rather impressive for an arranger.

On the arranger side, there are 2 banks of 64 styles, with a third bank where to put another 64 user styles. The bad news is that you can't edit any new style from the i40M itself. It has to be done and imported from another arranger like the IS40.
Styles include 4 variations (most of them are 8 measures long !), a long and short intro, a long and short ending. Then only 2 fill ins.
Every style can be full customized (except for the notes), and there is also a nice feature to easily modify the drum kit, kick and snare on the fly.
I love the "ACC1-3 MUTE" button with which you can quickly mute everything except the bass and drums tracks.
As an arranger, I find the i40M extremely good and versatile. Most styles are doing a great job, some pop/rock and dance sound very nice. In the end, I find this arranger very usable even by today's standard.

The Korg i40M may greatly appeal any guitar player (or singers) as it lets you plug a microphone or a guitar. You can add any internal effect, and they are very, very good. Compression, distortion, EQ, reverb, chorus ...

There is also a 16 track sequencer, but don't expect anything near a Yamaha QY700 ...

Please tell me what you think about the Korg i40M arranger, what is you favorite style, do you still use it nowadays ;)
