Why is doing 5 min of abdominal exercises good for you? The abdominal muscles support the trunk, allow movement and hold organs in place by regulating internal abdominal pressure. The deep abdominal muscles, together with muscles in the back, make up your core muscles which help keep your body stable and balanced, and protect your spine.muscles.

As Intermediate level you should already have built up a suitable enough strength, control and comfort to push a a bit more. Longer holds in planks to build up muscles to a higher level. I suggest to follow this level for few weeks before adventuring to a harder and advanced level. Have a look at this video for intermediate abdominals exercises , if you find it too complicated please refer to the beginners level in order to be comfortable enough for the intermediate version.
