Again a wonderful song from Fleetwood Mac and the delightful John McVie! As always John McVie is a master to vary short and long notes, and sometimes suprising us with just a little difference in the groove. Listen for instance to bar 73 which is the first bar of the third Verse. In stead of playing a F# note on the first and second count, he plays two eight notes on the first and third count. Nothing difficult, but I think it's specific for the basslines of John McVie: the difference in bassnotes (in choice of note or in timing) is in the detail, but therefore he makes sure that the bassline is not totally predictable. But it stays ‘reliable', and that’s what the bass does: giving solid ground to the vocals, harmony and rhythm.
