*No Talking* ASMR Wide Shrimp Rice Noodles Mukbang 蝦米腸 腸粉 먹방 Bánh cuốn

Happy December, Suellies! I must have died and gone to heaven because I have a huge platter of dried shrimp rice noodle rolls all to myself! In Chinese, this would be called cheung fun (腸粉) or shahe fen. It is often eaten as a breakfast item at Dim Sum restaurants. Topped with a warm sweet soy sauce, my husband can single-handedly consume five plates.

In Vietnam, we made a similar dish called bánh cuốn, which is also a steamed thin white sheet of rice noodle. However, Vietnameses fill up theirs with ground pork and chopped woodear mushroom and doused with fish sauce. Growing up, this dish was only served on special occasions because it is quite laborious to make. Only one sheet of rice noodle could be steamed at a time in a rectangular pan in a regular nonprofessional kitchen. Having to make enough for a party took the utmost commitment to tradition and love for family.

Another funny takeaway is when these rolls are served without any filling, they are called 'jyu cheung fan'. It translates roughly to 🐷 intestine because they are wound up so tightly that they bear some resemblance! Bon appétit! 😋
