Kaweka Forest Park Huts - Makahu - Dominie - Studholme - Kiwi Saddle Hut

Part:1 I showcase the huts, campsites, and the highlights between the Makahu Saddle carpark and Kiwi Saddle Hut. Hiking Makahu Spur I visit Dominie Hut then continue to the highest Kawekea Forest point, the summit of Kaweka J @ 1724m, open tops hiking at its best!

From Mad Dog Hill I rapidly drop down into the beautiful Studholme Saddle Hut (1320)m then a short distance away to Studholme Saddle Bivouac and climb 200m up to Kaiarahi point (1507)m and the Castle Rock lookout.
Check out the one of a kind, greenhouse shelter called Castle Camp and its equally unique thunderbox toilet then finally down to Kiwi Saddle Hut (1170)m for my first nights’ accommodation.
