In this video my Momma Barbara shows us how she makes her famous Fried Corn 🌽. Our corn on the Cobb came from Bellews Produce. We take a tour of their store and believe me you won’t be disappointed. It you are a local in Spartanburg SC make sure that you pay them a visit soon! I grew up eating my Momma’s homemade cream corn and the whole family including my children love it. You start with the freshest corn on the cob that you can find. Let’s watch BobbCatt work her magic.

Momma’s Fried Corn 🌽
8 to 10 ears of fresh shucked and cleaned corn
1/4 Cup Fatback or Bacon Grease, I prefer Fatback
1 Cup of Water
1/2 Stick Land of Lakes Butter
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Accent
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Pepper
1/2 Can of Carnation Canned Milk

Remove corn from the cob carefully making sure not to cut any of the cob with the corn. Scrape the milk out of the cob with your knife. In a large frying pan add the fatback grease and the butter. You don’t have to use any grease at all if you don’t want to use it. It’s only to add extra flavor. The butter is necessary! Let melt and heat up on medium heat. Add Corn, Sugar, Accent, Salt, Pepper and Carnation Milk and Water.
Let corn come to a boil tasting to make sure that it’s seasoned to your liking. If not make adjustments now. Let corn cook over medium heat until done. The corn should have a slight crunch but don’t cook it til it’s chewy or rubbery. The whole cooking time is approximately 30 minutes. The corn will start to thicken slightly. Let cool and enjoy!
