Seated poses with forward-bending and twisting action are done here to both create stability as well as mobility while being both soothing and stimulating in a quiet way. Once elasticity in the body is gained the base is set for more advanced asana. A few of the postures help to establish a quiet seat as a preparation for pranayama and more meditative practices.
