The Leica D-LUX 2. Definitely one of the coolest digicams I have, and I'm still not fully decided on how I feel about it. It feels incredibly well made. It has extensive controls, including full manual controls as well as a dedicated switch on the lens to select which aspect ratio you'd like. This is pretty groundbreaking stuff for 2005.

In the interest of time, I shot all of these photos on full auto. I only had a couple of hours in the morning to go on a photo walk before I had to prepare to depart Poland for the States. As you can see in the photos, when the camera exposes for the shadows (especially in the early morning) the image really falls apart. There is A LOT of digital noise and the image is much more difficult to edit.

I think the biggest disappointment with this camera is that it's not a true Leica. The fact that it's a re-skinned Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX1 makes this camera so much less... special. Does it have some great features that only Leica could do? Sure. Do I love that it has a CCD sensor? Absolutely. Optical Image Stabilization in a digicam? Crazy!

Still... the red dot just doesn't seem quite as red when there's a Panasonic digicam out there that's very similar to the D-LUX 2.
