After we sail Cape Petrel home from the Abrolhos Islands its time to haul her out of the water and refit her before her next voyage! This is a mammoth Covid project! We start with the interior, stripping the woodwork and inspecting the hull. She's a bit of a rust bucket so the next step is to grind out the rust, sandblast the hull back to bare steel and then give her 3 coats of fresh paint. We are lucky enough to have plenty of mates willing to lend a hand, but we're learning the hard way there are plenty of do's and do not's when it comes to rebuilding a yacht! Yeehawww!
