Mythic Race April 13, 2024 Full Race (Eventually)

I was so happy to be able to make it to this race because I heard such good things about it. And when Race Ready Obstacles is involved, you know it's going to be legit. The venue was very unique. It was somebody's property in a small town in Missouri, with most of the cool obstacles in a big field, which made the last mile super spectator friendly.
I got race brain and rain right past the spear throw and bow and arrow. Those obstacles were one attempt for the spear and two tries for the arrows. If you failed, you did 10 push-ups as a penalty, but it did not mean you lost your band. But you can't just run by them like I did... When I got to the finish, I asked a friend if he did the spear, and learned that I skipped those obstacles. Immediately, I told the timer to take me off the finisher list and went back on the course. I was disappointed in myself, and do not blame the race at all. You can see them as plain as day. For some reason, I just didn't first time through. I decided the right thing to do was to go back to where I skipped the obstacle, and finish the rest of the race from there. I started to do that, and while going through the water, I realized I didn't restart my GoPro... Sooo I went back to the spear AGAIN to do it on video. Of course at this point, I failed the pipe slider obstacle, which, by the way, was so cool and creative! I pinched my left hand the first time through and was bloody, so that didn't make it any easier later on, and I fell a couple times. Eventually I made it through, and I discovered a better technique for it, which I count as a win!
Other than my performance, I have to say this was a great event and I highly recommend finding a way to do it if possible. We have to support these local races as these race series seem to be dying out. It's so sad, so let's keep these small one offs going. They are my favorites!
