Savage Race Florida March 2, 2024 Full Race with NEW OBSTACLES! 9am Pro Wave, Full Race

2024 race season is upon us! Savage Race blessed us with 3 rigs, plus some new obstacles, Voulez Vous Lache with bars whose distance increases as you go, and Bruiser, a rope traverse where you can't touch the trussing halfway through. They weren't required for the pro wave, but I really wanted to do them, so I did!

Being that the main training I've been doing the last 7 weeks has been diaper changing and baby cuddling, I was not expecting to do much this race. I wanted to resist pushing the pace for the first half of the race, and see what I had left to finish the gauntlet of obstacles at the end. Even though the race started off awkwardly, (I forgot that I started my GoPro, so I had to restart it as the first wave took off) I couldn't be happier with the day as a whole. I ran within my means, and my obstacle proficiency was where I was hoping it would be!

It was just a great day. OCR is my happy place, I got to see so many great people, Savage Race puts on a great event as always, and best of all, my son got to come to his first race! My wife is simply amazing, handling the anxiety of our first big outing with him so well. We left so happy, and I'm just so thrilled to be back racing again.
