Understanding voltage ripple and noise is something new to me. A simple snubber will do the job, but knowing approximately 0 math about snubbers, it was simply an imperial "see what sticks" approach.

My oscilloscope comes in handy to determine just what works. Here a simple diode / resister combo on the primary coil along with a hefty capacitor on the main (DC) input rail seems to filter out most the noise. So if you're blowing MOSFETS and/or components, look at how pure your input rail is and compensate accordingly.
